Astrantia major is naturalised all over Europe and has been grown in Britain since 1596. 'Astra Red' is a cultivated form with deep red pincushion flowers.

Excellent for drying and cutting.
Cut the foliage back hard after flowering and you may well be rewarded with late summer blooms.
