Indian Valerian

Indian Valerian

Indian Valerian is a spreading perennial herb which is rarely found in UK nurseries. It comes from the Himalayas and China, where it grows in cool forests and meadows. Various parts of the plant were traditionally used in treatment of sleep problems, obesity, nervous disorders, snake poisoning and skin diseases.

It makes a lovely garden plant with clusters of pale pink flowers from mid to late spring and hairy, heart-shaped leaves, with bronze new growth. It grows to a good size clump and reaches 60cm tall.
