A wonderful, long flowering woody Salvia. The flowers are loved by bees.
Deep purple velvety flowers from April to November. Drought tolerant once established.
Awarded the RHS Award for Garden Merit.

The word Salvia comes from salvere, to save. The Romans called culinary Sage "herba sacra", and it was also highly valued by the Chinese as it was thought to prolong life. The Greeks and the Romans thought it banished melancholy. The Chinese imported sage tea from western Europe at five times the price we paid for their tea.
