Forms a wonderful carpet of woolly grey foliage with pale mauve flowers over the summer. Looks great on rockeries, in containers and between cracks in paving.
Thyme has been a favourite herb for centuries, valued for its culinary merit and curative properties. It believed that fairies lived in banks of Thyme and sprigs were burnt as offerings to gods. Many of the Thymes come from the Mediterranean region, but all are hardy provided they have a well-drained soil (or container).
Thyme is very robust and is often planted between paving, in or over walls and in rock gardens.
Attractive to bees and pollinators.
