Chives are easy to grow in a pot near the kitchen door, or in the herb bed. The leaves have a mild onion flavour which is nice in salads, with cheese and in soups etc. The flowers are also edible - try sprinkling on salads or using as a garnish to dishes. A fast-growing cut-and-come-again herb.
The flowers, which appear from June to August, are loved by bees.
Can also be grown indoors on a windowsill or conservatory.
A native perennial which is fully hardy.
