A woody Penstemon which forms a low mound absolutely smothered in flowers throughout summer. The flower colour is predominantly blue, but overlaid with tints of pink and can occasionally be shades of purple and pink. Ideal for front of border or rockery situation.
Penstemons really are fantastic plants for any garden. They don't seem to suffer from any pest or disease and even the slugs avoid them. On top of that, they flower for months on end, right into autumn when many other plants have given up for the winter. They look equally at home in a traditional cottage garden, or a stylish modern design.
The flowers of 'Heavenly Blue' can vary in depth of blue depending on the light levels (i.e. on a sunny day the blue is not as strong as on a cloudy day). Also, poor soil tends to bring out a deeper blue in the flower than very rich soil.
Loved by bees.
Happy in full sun but will tolerate partial shade without problems and this situation may increase the quality of the flowers. Most soil types are fine, including quite dry.
