A popular penstemon with large showy purple-blue flowers from mid-summer well into autumn.
Equally at home in traditional cottage garden or contemporary displays, an ideal plant for the middle of the border.
Border Penstemons are happy in pretty much any type of soil in full sun or partial shade.

Regarding this variety, a customer has been kind enough to send us this interesting information (and photographs 3 and 4):
"My great grandfather was foreman gardener at Forbes Nurseries in Hawick. He was responsible for creating this hybrid, Penstemon Alice Hindley, and recieved the Associate of Honour medal from the RHS. I enclose a photo/attachment, David Oliver."
Penstemons can be divided into roughly two types. Border hybrids, which grow to between 60 and 80cm and are very colourful, and species Penstemons which are usually lower growing with smaller flowers. Nearly all originate from North America. Border hybrids tend to flower from June to October and species for a shorter period, earlier in the season.
