Neat mats of bright golden evergreen foliage. Suitable for using as path edging and can be planted en masse to make an alternative fragrant lawn. Golden foliage gradually turns greener as the season progresses.
Not as strongly scented as some of its cousins but still useful in cooking.
Thyme has been a favourite herb for centuries, valued for its culinary merit and curative properties. It believed that fairies lived in banks of Thyme and sprigs were burnt as offerings to gods. Many of the Thymes come from the Mediterranean region, but all are hardy provided they have a well-drained soil (or container).
Thyme is very robust and is often planted between paving, in or over walls and in rock gardens.
