An interesting plant with heavily purple-spotted, funnel-shaped white flowers in late summer and autumn.
In the wild, it's found growing on shaded rocky cliffs and stream banks in central and southern Japan. In the garden, it works well in containers, rockeries or near the front of the border - anywhere where you can get up close to enjoy the flowers.
It's happiest in full or partial shade and will tolerate soil conditions from dry to wet.
