Herbs

What could be better than a herb bed or container near the kitchen door, from where you can pop outside and snip off a few wonderfully scented shoots to add to the dishes you're preparing? All our herbs are hardy and perennial, unless otherwise noted in the description.

Various definitions of the word 'herb' exist, but generally, a herb is any plant with leaves, seeds, or flowers used for flavouring, food, medicine, or perfume. There is evidence of herbs being used as medicine as far back as 5000bc and many of our medicines today are made up of refined compounds of herbs.

Where possible, we have listed information about historic and present use.  Please note that we are not recommending their use for these purposes. It is your responsibility to ensure that plants are suitable for any other purpose than ornamental.
